I wish I could be interested in other bikes. I am just not, I don't seem to care. I have worked on and rode many sizes shapes and model of bike, but I don't give a damn. I guess I am content with Matilda. I wish shine new fancy stuff got me excited. It sure seems fun to oooh and ahhh and have feelings and thoughts about this or that but I really just don't.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I go into a bike shop occasionally, just to look. Hardleys, Yamahamers, whatever. But almost all of the time, although I sometimes admire their lines, they leave me cold. When I first saw the America on a small showroom floor, It was love at first sight. I REALLY lusted after my America. And for months after I bought it, I would just go out in the carport and admire the lines. Beautiful. The same thing, almost, with the new Indian. I immediately loved most of the lines when I saw pre-release pictures. But it was a LOT of money for me, and I balked. When I finally got to a dealership, I liked it a lot, but NOT the instant love I had for my America. I actually drove 100 miles three times to look at it, and then it had me! And now, I go out to the carport to admire the lines of the Indian, like I had the America all those years ago. But I'll always think that the Triumph Bonneville America is one of the most beautiful bikes ever designed.

Hmmmmm...well I sure have different feelings than this, alright.
My list of brand new motorcycles(not classics and collectables, as that's a difference subject) I'd purchase tomorrow IF 50,000 tax-free bucks suddenly came my way:
An Indian Chief(btw, demo-ed the new Scout a few days ago...nice little bike)
Norton 961 Sport
The brand new Ducati Scrambler
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I know not many can relate to me. It is what it is.

Triumph does it for me but I appreciate almost anything old. Jap stuff has to be really special but German, English, American vintage iron I love. There is no bike I wouldn't trade for a 37 Speedtwin.

Wait! So "JAP" stuff has to be "special", BUT any ol' "Kraut", "Limey" OR "good ol' 'Merican" stuff is okay, right Ian??? So, what's your opinion about those bikes made by them there "Eye-talians", HUH???
(...what say we practice a little "continuity" here, ol' buddy?!...and of course I ain't talkin' about the motorcycles here!!!)

I'm the same. I love my bike. The looks. The handling. If I could change just one thing I'd have a factory 1100-1200cc option but it's no big deal.I do like older Triumphs and if I had money there'd be a few in my garage next to my America for occaisonal use but other stuff,Vincents,Nortons,Honda fours etc,ok they're nice, as is the Rocket and T-bird but not enough to float my boat.

Hey! And speaking of "Jap" stuff here...NEW "Jap" stuff that is(as I would take in heartbeat if someone offered to give me, say, a nice '69 or '70 Honda CB750 or say a nice '79 or '80 Suzuki GS1000S or say a nice '73 or '74 Kawasaki Z1 or say...aah but I digress, and I thought we were talking about NEW machines here anyway)...as I ventured though the Phoenix Int'l Motorcycle Show a few weeks back, I gotta say I kind'a liked that Honda CTX1300 sport-touring bike, as to MY eye at least, it doesn't look THAT much like a "Transformer" and I THINK it has some really nice lines to it overall.
(...it looks like a bike that one could go some really long distances on and in real comfort, and yet not nearly was much bike to throw around as Honda's Goldwing)

I really liked that CTX1300 as well. The biggest star of the show though was the new Indian Vintage I thought.

I'm with you on this one. I haven't seen it in person yet, but it looks sooo right in pics.
But the America does strike an emotional chord. Always has. The Big Ruckus has it's own appeal. Certainly not beauty. Different, for sure.

I owned a Benelli and a Morini. Had a JAWA too so that country is covered too but generally don't like Jap stuff and I don't mean JAP. Was at a couple events where we took anything jap that rode in and threw it on the bonfire.

i know exactly how your feeling but i think my ADD got the best of me when i seen the storm, when i first saw it i relaly liked it but i had the SM and was doing a ton of stuff to it, i too would stand out in the garage and just stare at it, likley many of hours coming up with the things i wanted to or did to it. I miss the bike but i am hoping that the Storm will do it for me, could be my last "new" bike for sure. If i ever come across a good deal on a T100, or thruxton or something though i would likel be all over it.
2007 Speedmaster and miss it!

I have several bikes, and have rode just about any type out there. Every time I get on a bike other, than my Triumph, I say to myself, man, this is a nice riding bike! It finally hit me. Its not so much the bikes as it is the ride. I just love to ride. That said, there is something special about the Triumph. The smile never leaves my face when I am on the America!
