Your friend is a nicer guy than I. I would have hiped you up on the $75 jacket hard for days. When you finally arrived at the thrift shop it would have been sold. I would have consoled you, but reminded you that "the early bird" and all that.
Of course, your family would have been in on it. It always helps to have someone on the inside to place the jacket somewhere you'd eventually find it. Well that and to call an ambulance in case of shock.
