South of Ottawa on a 3rd level back road I stopped at a stop sign and looked for traffic, it was an odd offset corner but it looked good so I proceeded. As I was shifting from 2nd to 3rd a flash in my mirror and then a heavy double down shift from a BMW R1200 rider then a shake of his head and off he went.
I realized that it would have been my fault if we had collided but I did not see him coming. He took the big left hand turn on the main road I took the straight through on a farm road which T'd into another and then comes out at the secondary which eventually winds up in the town I was headed for. I stopped at the sign looked then started letting out the clutch then there was the guy on the BMW again. ( he took the long route) Now I understand why I did not see him the first time. Grey bike, grey driving suit, grey helmut, grey road, grey trees with no leaves left and the kicker a dull yellow headlight and going fast on a back road. If I could have caught him I would have said "sorry and BUY a NEW HEADLIGHT BULB because you are almost invisible."

he could have had no headlight and an invisibility cloak but he rides a BMW so it would have been your fault anyway for being so inferior
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Yeah, I do the "wave" at fellow bikers sometimes. I've noticed that beemers never wave.

Well, if you look and see no vehicle approaching and then proceed, you are legal, it's not your fault if someone is exceeding the speed limit and is upon you suddenly. But then try to prove it if it causes a smackdown. Bummer.

Be careful, road surprises are not uncommon. It happens to the best of us. Glad ya didn't need new pants. If it were me I would.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.
