Usual route to lowering the bike is to buy 1" shorter Progressive shocks. I have seen a bike over on triumphrat.net that had a lower shock mount modded into the swingarm to allow the bike to be lower.

I had my rear shocks cut down about an inch before I got my lowered Progressives.
I personally don't think it's worth the time and expense.
You've still got a crappy rear shock unit that now has a lot of slop in it.
Definitely lowers the bike but you would be way better off waiting for lowered Progressives.

you really don't want to do that. You increase the chance of bottoming out the shock and that can damage it. Better to either get a shorter shock or modify the mounting.

Tomstrump, Save your energy for better shocks dude as you will only make the ride worse than it already is.
