Based on everything i have read and based on owning a TTP firestarter, i would go that route. YOu can ask them if they would raise the limit to 9k but for sure you get the 8500 out of the box, its a decent unit and can be mounted in other places other than under the tank. I know Marty has the stage 2 with his 904 and FCR carbs and likes the unit very much. Maybe PM him for his input.
