Paul, ahem, although still beautiful there are several attributes that render the 07 model not up to the beauty of the prefires. The lack of spoke wheels for one. Tapered fork shrouds another. Then there are the non visible narrow steering stops. The forward control hardware is a bit george jetson as well.
One thing that still has an 07 on top of all later models is the classic 'speed twin'ish' styled tank, non bullet speedo, and 15"/18" hoops.
The 07s are beautiful, much like Elinor, while the spoked versions are gorgeous like Marianne. Sense and sensibility seems to have been abandoned in recent model years.
Moe you do a great job as moderator and I like and respect you.Of course you, along with everyone else, is allowed his or her opinion.Unfortunately the down side of this is if it conflicts with my opinion ,you/they are wrong. Actually I now tend to agree with you about the spokes, not for looks but my cast wheels seem to lose air pressure much faster than a spoked wheel with tube.I do like the look of my cast wheels. The the finned sprocket cover on the earlier models dosen't make the grade IMO,but hey,it's a Triumph and ANY model Americas/Speedys are the coolest looking bikes around
