'04 Speedmaster slightly modified, ProCom Igniter set on 6. Seems to be running fine but when the bike gets hot it starts running crappy, popping, the usual. She came in the other day at 220 degrees, it's never done that before. It was stuttering and cutting out at that time. I'm thinking it's not the igniter but possibly coils. What say the Enlightened Ones? Thank you very much.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? The heat could be from a lean condition. That being said 220ยบ F is not too hot.

Wade, "'04 Speedmaster slightly modified" Having the same issue with my 04 America, stock ignitor. Had regulator / rectifier go bad with some melted wires on the bottom of the bike, replaced, started running good, squirrel condom failure caused concern but easily fixed and recognizable. Now, when it get hot, right cylinder not firing with cough and spit, dumps me on the side of the road. Restarts most of the time, runs rough. Ignition control unit vs coil? replace them both? Any advice appreciated. ride safe, have time to ride, job left me, but no motorbike at this time of year!

I believe I was the 1st person to use the Ignitech tcip4 (TTP now stock them and call them 'firestarter')I purchased mine from the makers, it's programmable but I'm happy with the factory setting. There are pics of it on this site of it installed on my 2002 BA (It fits under the seat away from the heat of the engine)I have now done over 1000 miles with it and can't recommend it enough..Easy starting, smooth power curve and I especially like the low end torque it means I can stay in higher gears longer always pulls strong without hesitation.

Marty and I were the first ones to get one from TTP when they got the rights with TTP tune, and they are a very good unit, still newish but the units work very very well and they are plug and play no messin around with dials and such. Who has time for that anymore anyways. I would buy one of TTP over procom any day of the week.
