Since selling my Speedmaster I spend most of my time pondering the triumphrat.net website...however I still like to check out what's going on over here. A lot of the names are still familiar...Dinqua, Greybeard, etc. I'm trying to talk my wife into trading her 750 Shadow for a Bonneville so I won't have to be riding next to something that looks way too much like a H-D. Since I got my Sprint ST I have covered a lot of miles...mostly @ or > the speed limit. It is very difficult to stay under 70 mph when that's about half throttle. I miss the old SM sometimes...especially when it comes to routine maintenace. While the Sprint really doesn't require much, removing the fairing is no fun. The upside is EFI. Never a worry about jetting and the way the airbox is positioned, I'm not sure the filter will ever see any dirty air. Hopefully in a few years all bikes will be fuel injected. I know this may go against the grain of some of us "older types" but believe me...it's the best thing since pneumatic tires.
If anyone ever has the need for speed, go down to your nearest Triumph shop and take a spin on one of the new Sprints or even better, the new 675 Daytona...whew!
swiftly, TM
