Hey, thanks. How well does your bike idle at 1000 rpm and 12.5 volts? Does it stumble or miss at all?
At 1000 rpms my bike acts like it is laboring to stay running. As I adjust the idle speed up it smooths out and runs great at 1150 rpms, also where it is putting out 14.6 volts. Adjusting it above that doesn't increase the voltage out put. I know that you said that you have been in touch with Pro Com and what not but as I said over in the Pro Com thread I think that your issue is the carb flooding when the choke is pulled out. Also I still have the stock regulator/rectifier.
Ok, yeah thanks for the heads up on the lower t. One of my next moves is going to be disconnecting the charcoal canister system (mine is a CA setup). I think the vent you are talking about connects to that. Regarding voltage, even when warmed up and choke "in", my bike will stumble as yours does if I read voltage below 12.5, no matter the rpm, but that is typically 1100 or lower.
Cannister huh? I would ditch the emission cannister and the air injection system especially if you don't live in California. I'm not sure if motorcycles are subject to periodic emission checks in California but if they are not definitely get rid of them. The issue with your choke is most likely related to the way the carb is being vented and I am sure that cannister does not help. However I think that we may now be on to something with the Pro Com. Since you spoke with Pro Com and they said that it doesn't like being under 12.5 volts people with one who are having issues with the Pro Com may have their idles set to low to generate enough voltage for it to work effectively. Increasing the idle to around 1150 rpms seems to help with that or doing the regulator/rectifier mod or upgrading to a mossfet may be the solution to generate more volts at a lower idle may be the solution.
