Since 65 mph is less than half throttle, or should be, I would start with shimming the needles. Did it used to be okay, and now it's wonky? Just wondering.

Need to know what the current setup is.
1. What exhaust system do you have
2. Has the intake been modified? Pods, snorkels removed, etc
3. Has anyone ever played with the carbs?

Need to know because if the bike is stock and nothing was ever done to it and you are having this problem, then find the problem before changing parts.

The exhaust is a home made stock pipe that we have rebaffled
I has a uni with snorkal removed

The carbs have been rejeted and messed with long before I have got it.

In lower gears that means it should be falling on its face too. Try running 3rd out, see how far the throttle goes.

Sounds like you are running out of gas.

Sounds like the carbs in need of a rebuild.

(or fuel filter is gunking up)

yep running out of gas because It is jetted wrong I just need to know which one to switch. Filter is not plugged it runs fine with choke pulled.

In the words of Dinqua, it is not MPH or RPM, it is throttle position, now and always.

Increase the primary jets not the pilots.

I would throw away the exhaust pipe immediately. I think that is a real suspect in all of this.

Just go fat. Should be in the 140s somewhere, and I'd go two slow jets up from stock. You can scrape carbon off, Can't fix a hole in a piston.

I have two into one baffled, stainless exhaust with knn pods. I'm running 48 slow 155 mains at 500ft and no real humidity... and it climbs up to 4000 feet everyweekend well. No flat spots no real popping on deceleration (after upping the idle jets) just as a reference.

I would start with 135 main jets, 42 pilots and throw a couple of shims under the needles if they are stock. Better yet, get a couple of needles out of the older Triumph Thunderbire (TBS needles) and use those or the needles out of a Thruxton.

Pull the float bowls off and see if you can tell what jets you have in place. Since it's always run funny, I bet the bike was never jetted properly.

One way to see if the bike is lean, throw the main snorkel back into the airbox and see if the problem goes away.

Could be anything from float level adjustment to jetting and needles or even the fuel filter . More details required to diagnose. Could even be a lump of varnish (solidified gas residue) on the needles.

I got to my dads bike today I thought I had needle shims but I didn't. I did how ever have 135 jets so I took out the 132's and put in the 135's and took it for a nice test ride and it didn't hesitate once thanks for the help guys.
