That's a pretty simplistic statement, Brad. I'm disappointed .
Obviously, those who seek to control others will use whatever methods work for them. Unfortunately, many who say they seek God will follow whomever tells them what agrees with their own preconceived notions.
And they are quite fond of "proof-texting". Any reputable scholar of the Bible will tell you that's misuse.
As any intelligent human being should be able to see.
