A 1969 Daytona 500 to be precise, picked it up last night. It's been in my buddies garage for years, he's had it for about 20. I've been trying to get it from him for a while now. Anyway, here it is in the back of my truck, of course it rained this morning...

got it out this afternoon and took a few pics before I washed the cobwebs off

and this evening I cleaned out the tank and carbs and got her fired up but I can't figure out how link a video from facebook or google

Oooh! What a little beauty there, Dave!

Is that a re-spray on the tins or original paint?

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

best I can tell it's original, the paint has some good crack lines on the tank and there are a few scratches here and there with no other color or evidence to say otherwise. I'll ask my friend I bought it from, maybe he'll know.

Found a similar one here for sale in Australia, the seller say it was imported from Canada.

Nice score! I'm really missing my little Trophy, they are just such fun to ride.

Congrats on your purchase those bikes are a lot of fun and I been missing it for some time!! She hasn't seen the rd in over 10 yrs but it won't be long now!! When I first saw the post, I thought you bought a 675 sport bike. Now that's what I call freaking retro. Good job Dave! Love it.

Yeah, looking at it a little more closely and seeing a few little chips here and there, I'd also say that that's probably the original paint. And so, I wouldn't do anything to it at all except perhaps clean the engine a little (though not TOO much, as in "over-polishing" it) and keep it in the "original/unrestored" condition it's presently in.

(...and yeah...I have NO idea what Jason from Down-Under is talkin' about here!..."customize" THIS BEAUTY?!!...NEVER!!!...and not when an old bike is in THIS kind of great shape...you only do THAT to an old bike when parts of it are missing and/or if it's in really sorry shape when ya get it!...no offense here however, Jason)

You'll soon get used to that, Dave. It'll soon become second-nature to you that with your feet forward on your BA you'll automatically "know" to shift with your left foot and brake with your right, and whenever you're riding your older britbike and with its standard riding position, you'll just subconsciously "know" it's the opposite.

Are you going to trailer it to Hot Springs in Oct. and ride around the hills?

Why trailer it if he was going to bring it? I rode my 66 from here in PA to Yellowstone Park among many other multi-state rides. If I showed up anywhere on any of my old bikes, I rode it there.

I started out on a '59 Tiger so I know what you mean. Ha!, you think that is weird... I rode a 47 AJS 500 Trials a couple of years ago with right foot shift and get this... one up and three down!

Well, I got it insured and titled the other day, so I went out for a ride Wednesday night. It's a good running little bike, although it feels a bit rich right now when I open the throttle a bit. After it got nice and hot, it seemed like it was struggling on acceleration, especially from a dead stop. Might have some carb work to do, but those Amals are super simple. I did end up getting 2 drops of oil on the concrete after I shut her down

it's a 500 so it doesn't bounce very hard at all. if I rev it up though, it will vibrate across the garage floor on the centerstand

Yeah that's right, a shortened stroke 650, a little quicker to 70 mph and then the 650 passes on by. Your a lucky man, Dave.

Spent many miles riding and fooling around with my 69 Bonneville. Rode it to Myrtle Beach once, and thousands of miles otherwise. I had to do a loooooot more work than you did though, as it was basically an assembled wreck. After I restored it, I hardly ever had to wrench it. And I loved those old carbs. Sooooo simple and straitforward! I've found that after a short while, your brain learns which side is neccessary when you're riding the "newer" or "older" Trumpet. You're gonna have a lot of fun on this bike, buddy! (I still have VERY found memories of mine!)
