In the case of OCC, West Coast Choppers, etc... I would call those customs. Something like the Scout would just be a production motorcycle, nothing more. If it was made with short fenders then it was made with short fenders and is still just a production motorcycle.

I come from a background where I and my friends were actually bobbing and chopping bikes I rode my red chopper for over 20 years. I have been looking at used frames and engines on Ebay and watching prices. I think I want a modern 360ยบ Triumph engine and chop a stock frame. Then put some Amal carbs I have left over from a Norton 850 Commando I restored for someone on it. I think I will cut it and stretch the neck a little for clearance for the springer and use an HD steering head to make fitting the front end I want easier. When finished that would be a chopper.
