Yep, it has officially started today. Typhoon (hurricane) season! We got one coming later today. Nothing too extreme, category 3. But looks like it will hit dead on! Everything is tied down, hatches battened down... we're ready... beer in hand! Why do these things usually come in at night? It's pretty much impossible to sleep with all that howling noise! Although the locals have no problem sleeping through.... I can't!

First casualty: my papaya tree.
We're still 4 hours away from the eye, but my papaya tree is down. To bad, because that tree had something like 30 papayas in it.
Ran outside to tie it down, so it doesn't break something else while down. That was a quick shower! Drenched in 30 seconds!
Will clean up after the storm.

That is one of the highlighted stories on the Weather Network web page here. Not your papaya tree blowing over but the typhoon.

Take care during typhoon season perceval. I have family in the Philippines, and this time of year there are a lot of storms going through there.

We're right in the thick of it now, and surprisingly enough, we still have power.
My palm tree is down too now, but that one, I can usually reset it after the storm. Those trees have almost no roots.
It's a good one, and it will take a few days to dry everything. I can almost swim on my balconies.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Sounds like you take it in stride, Jeff... but is that a good thing? Being caught in one torrential downpour on my bike and I'm traumatized and driven to alcoholism. You on the other hand are faced with weather beyond anything we wusses out here in Western Canada would know about. Hmmmmm, maybe you should move to BC. I can set you up! (Mind you, you are a Canuck from Quebec and somewhat accustomed to adverse weather.)

I'd love to move to BC, but it's way too expensive when I consider the cost of living here.
Not many ice storms or blizzards around here! I traded those for typhoons and earthquakes.
I also traded bears for cobras.
Not sure if it's a good or bad trade.
All year riding season... That's a good one! I knew there was a reason why I'm still here!
No riding now though. Cleaning up the mess left by that hurricane. And roads are dangerous because of mudslides. Will wait a couple of days.

Where I live it's not so expensive. I picked up my house with a credit card... not the Playboy mansion but decent digs for a humble lad like myself.
