I agree but you can get more torque with less engineering on a longer stroke. As most of us don't care about higher RPMs but more low end power the V makes more torque with less Rs. When air cooled lower RPM ranges are preferred with the varying temps. You can compensate with higher RPMs to make Horsepower but the faster you spin it hotter it gets.

Thats why we left the flat motors behind and made the V-8 etc.
