I just wanted to say thanks to BA.com and all the great folks here!
I had a little incident at Christmas (which some of you heard about) and was looking for a "new" tank. Bill from San Diego stepped up and offered his extra for a great price, and its now in transit to Flagstaff!!!!
I just have to get it painted, and a small ding removed, but it will be ever so much less body work than my current tank will need to repair it.
This way, I won't have much if any down time, while I get the new tank painted, as I can still ride with the dented (read "slightly smashed") tank.
When I get home tonight, I will try to post a "post-accident" picture, as well as pre-accident. And then when the new tank gets done I'll post that as well. I have an idea for paint job, we'll see how it goes. I'm keeping the original cardinal red as a base - I like that color!
Anyway, THANKS BILL, and all you great people!
Becky

Of course you will. It's the best color of them all. Looking forward to seeing the new paint!

Glad to hear that Bill was able to help you out. So any idea when the unveiling will take place with this new paint job? When are we going to get together and do some riding again? Where's Dwight when we need him?

Have no idea when I will get the paint done....been so busy with work that I hardly have time to ride...but I'm getting some in.
We should ride before it gets hot!!! Oh, wait, then its too late for you already! Nice and cool up here still. Little windy this week tho. Gonna ride to Prescott Valley on Friday to teach a class, and then stay down there till Sat. Probably just come home then, gots lots to do here, that if I ride every weekend, it don't get done!

It's been perfect down here except for a breezy day last Friday, around 85 or so. If I go up to Flagstaff, I think I need to wait till it warms up a bit.

No time to ride? You know what they say...all work and no play...

Becky,

I don't know if you can make it, but there's an Antique Motorcycle Association run starting in Sedona and going up Oak Creek Canyon the first weekend of May.

Maybe you can meet Derek and his wife Linda, and I there and make that run up towards your place there in Flagstaff.

Shoot me a PM if you think you can join us.

And your Prescott Valley class thing reminds me that I should get one of those combination key locks(like what real estate agents use) and keep it at my house there so that when something like this comes up, you or anybody who's in the area can use the house when I'm in California.

Cheers,
Dwight

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Well I wasn't going to be so bold as to invite Becky when it's your house and all, but I thought maybe a not so subtle hint in my post above would get the ball rolling for her to join us.

I'm really looking forward to the Sedona ride in 2 weeks. Was going to PM you just to make sure all the plans were still in line. You said you were going to get there Wednesday evening? I was thinking my wife and I could take a leisurely ride up Wednesday during the day and wait for you around the town square(probably in the Palace knowing my wife). When you get there, you can just give us a call on our cell phone, and we'll come on over. Sound okay to you?

Sounds good!

Cheers,
Dwight
(but make sure you guys are in a condition to be able to ride that short distance from the Palace to my place when I get there, okay?)

Don't worry, one or 2 beers is my limit when I have to ride. My wife OTOH...

Do you have an ETA for Prescott on Wednesday?

Do I hear a little jealousy in your voice?!
Then I won't tell you I rode down Oak Creek Canyon and on to Jerome on Sunday.

Sent you a PM -
Hmmmmm, house to use in Prescott....its a little far to walk from Whiskey Row tho.
Not that I would know anything about Whiskey Row!!!!

Actually part of this class on Friday is drinking in measured doses, then letting newbie officers perform field sobriety tests on us. Tough job but somebody's gotta do it. I am doing a little real - uninebrieted - teaching as well.

Oak Creek Canyon...one of my favorite rides.

Gotta stop at the Haunted Hamburger in Jerome sometime that weekend.

They did something like that with the sheriff's office here 16-17 years ago. Our Clerk of Justice Court down the hallway from my office volunteered to be a guinea pig. Being a sneaky sort I provided another volunteer one of those tiny cassette recorders so she could covertly record the assemblage getting "happy". I've maintained that miniature tape ever since for obligatory & crucial blackmail purposes should I ever have to appear. Being a smart alec with the Judge, I have generally become the most law abiding person in this region since if I ever so much as discernably roll through a stop sign at 2 am, I will probably get 6 months hard time !

Every couple years or so I'll walk in the chambers and say something like "Hey remember this" and punch the play button

It still works. I tried to upload a picture last night, but the file is too big - have to resize it or something to post it.
Its a big dent in the left side under the badge and towards the back. Got bare metal showing - probably 6-8 inches long by 4 inches wide....pretty ugly. I just figured taking out a small quarter sized ding on Bill's tank would be much cheaper and easier, since I'd have to have mine painted anyway, then just paint the new one since its the wrong color.
