Those T-Bird cush rubbers fit so well, you have to lightly tap them in with a dead blow hammer, they sure do last longer then the stockers with the no movement every up and downshift. Evidently if it's a sloppy fit, it's wearing out.

With close to 60000 Kms on my bike without changing the cush drive I would suggest an alternative. Take an old belt, cut into equal sections and insert between cush rubbers and aluminum hub. Been doing it for years.

This is an awesome trick! I just put new tires on and while I had the rear wheel off I went ahead and tried this. I was amazed at the difference and how well it worked.

Would I be right in assuming on the trailing side of the cush drive wedge or on both?

On mine I put a piece of leather belt on each side of the rubber wedges and then fitted the sprocket carrier back into the hub.I had to tap it in slightly with a rubber mallet.

Found a leather luggage strap that has been hanging around my work bench for years that fit the bill perfectly. New chain and sprockets and cush drive rejuvinated.

Like a new tranny in Crantini, rejuvinated cush drive, chain and sprockets and it shifted smooth as silk. Wow. After 1 1/2 hrs in the saddle I am very satisfied with the combo modification.

Its like I dropped a new Tranny in the bike. Shimmed, new chain and sprockets. I can't believe how much smoother the bike shifts. Caught a lucky break in the weather and went out for a ride yesterday and I know I am preaching to the choir but its amazing how much better it is.
