Delrin aka UHMW is a machinable thermoplastic. It comes in several grades and shapes with associated properties. Self lubricating bearing applicable, abrasion resistant for wear areas such as receiving hoppers from conveyors, used a lot in the food industry as a backstop for slicers and dicers as to not dull the knives so much and easy to clean. They make it in Tacoma for one and several other places around the world. It has been around since at least 1972, when I first saw it in industrial applications and probably before that ... It would definitely take any cushion out of a cush drive.
