Yep, as you can see, I am wearing my safety hat made from straw, my safety beach shorts and my safety flip flops. I am wearing sunglasses as well, so that must count for something too! 35C and 80% humidity, it's really hot! I'm building a rack for my passion fruit plants to grow on. Should also provide a bit of shade.

I work in the trades and I never could think about wearing shorts. My knees would look like leather after a few months. Having said that, I think it's only a matter of time before the Gov. regulates the clothing we wear. They're already all over lead paint dust and fall protection. You can't even get on a ladder higher than your head without fall protection! (Now, this is not an invite for someone to hijack this thread for a gov./O/political rant.) I'm just adding some pleasant observations to the picture of the nice fella in the cool hat!

Lance, how many do you need?
Daniel, this is the view over the wall on a clear day... not too bad. Still, I wish I had a view of the Pacific that is 10 min away.... but safer here, and not too much salt in the air to corrode everything!

The tradies here (similar climate to Perceval) only ever wear shorts with boots and a t-shirt (which often comes off on hotter days) and only cloth hats usually. Yes, their skin looks leathery but I have never caressed one to be sure.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

When I read the heading I thought the post was going to be about speed/red light cameras, because that's what the authorities here tell us. "It's all about safety" "It's not about revenue" It is a great view BTW.

Most places with the red light cameras find a drop in revenue because people know they are there and don't run the lights as much. I know a few places that had them and shut them off for that reason.

Yeah, it ain't bad!
It'd be even better if the mountains had hiking and mountain bike trails, and no cobras roaming about....

I've heard that's the standard issue for welders in China. Ditto the great view.

I saw a guy welding in the Philippines using a welder.Shorts sandals,t-shirt and holing a piece of green glass in his hand as a shield. Some employers should be beheaded.

The idea of safety is very different when considering other places on this earth.
That Philippines guy may have been his own boss.
Over here, it is considered safe to ride in the back of a pickup truck, while sitting on a plastic garden chair. I've seen whole families do that.
And even worse in other places like Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, ....

BTW, the stones my girl is sitting on are marble.
It is used on sidewalks, toilet floors, balcony roof tops, etc... What is cheap here doesn't mean it is in your part of the world!
I have marble and granite floor tiles, and full stainless steel doors at home because they are the cheapest around here....

He wasn't his own boss. But probably too scared to ask his boss for anything else.Or too uneducated to realize what he was doing to his eyes. I'm in Thailand at the moment. Crappy old pickup trucks, filled to the brim with people in the back, flying down the road at 120-140kph,bald tires, in the rain.Small bikes Never looking as they exit,no helmet, from small streets onto major highways.etc. etc etc.30,000+ killed on the roads yearly, untold amounts injured.Worst driving I've seen. I am thankful to have been born where I was. Taiwan looks like it's got some beautiful country.
