Bonneville America Forums Forums Technical Forums General Tech Rectifier/Regulator removal and installation prob

Hopefully a quick easy answer, trying to remove my regulator but can't get the plug passed the bike frame, gap is too small. It's as if the cable went in before the engine. Hate the idea of cutting the wires and putting in connectors, but short of tearing the bike apart in a major way I'm not seeing an alternative.
What am I missing?
