Back to electric motorcycles...
This kind of reminds me of the beginning of Hybrid cars. When the Prius first hit the market Toyota had to get a lot of training to their dealership techs on the system. The first generation really wasnt that good it was small and so heavy it required special tires that had a higher load rating for their size. Bridgestone was contracted by Toyota to build these special little load rated tires and few in the field noticed until they accidentally replaced them with standard load tires creating a safety issue. Another safety issue that concerned EMTs was handling a heavily damaged hybrid after a crash that has lethal levels of voltage in some of the wiring. In the end all the issues were worked out and today many manufacturers offer advanced hybrid and now plug-in cars.

In reality hybrids are a very old idea...think world war 1 submarines. They ran on the surface on diesel power and recharged battery banks then shut down the engines and submerged to run on electric power stored in the batteries. By alternating back and forth these early subs could travel much greater distance with the limited fuel volume the small subs could carry.

I know this new Harley is not a hybrid but rather a straight plug-in electric but the potential is there to increase the range in future models.
