I saw that yesterday. I'm trying to understand what demographic HD would be trying to market this to? I mean we like to poke fun at the Black and Orange, but an Electric HD? I'm sorry but that seems like one bad concept to me
If Triumph was introducing this bike everyone here would be hyping it as the wave of the future...but Harley gets snubbed.
Around here people hack on Harley for building big, expensive old school V-twin air cooled motorcycles, but Indian does the same and gets respect. The 122 Horsepower V-Rod doesn't get much discussion (what's the HP on a stock Triumph Storm?) So Harley introduces 2 new smaller very affordable liquid cooled bikes and then follows it up with this wild electric motorcycle and we still dismiss them. Beats the hell out of a 250cc peashooter to go after marginal 3rd world markets.
Harley owns 50% of the American motorcycle market and earns over 32% profit margins, that is strong. Their owner loyalty is second to none...like they say nobody gets a Honda tattoo on their arm.
Other motorcycle manufacturers better pay attention Harley until now has been satisfied with their success in a specific market but it appears they are ready to redirect their resources and expand.
What's next a sport touring bike with an upgraded V-Rod engine?
Jeez, you need some cheese to go with that whine. GD no one can take a little good nature ribbing these days. An electric motorcycle makes sense, An electric HD does not. That's my opinion and I could care less what anyone thinks about that or anything else.
