Dwight I see your point but think of this from Harley's position. They have just upgraded the touring line (Project Rushmore) and sales of their core models are strong so they are not neglecting their tattooed fans.

Why not expand in different directions, if the tattoo boys don't like the V-Rod, Street 750 or the electric bike then don't buy one that doesnt mean Harley cant develop a full line for other market segments.

In the end it may depend on their dealer network backing the new product.

Yep OB, the whole "dealer network" thing, which of course H-D can boast is second-to-none, is another very good point to bring up if they decide to go forward with this electric motorcycle concept and actually bring it to market.

But then of course, just as was the case when H-D dealerships were carrying Erik Buell's products and attempting to have those tattooed faithful rubbing elbows with the Sportbike crowd in said dealerships and which didn't exactly go "swimmingly" THEN, I must wonder if something like THIS would then be attempting to have those same tattooed faithful rubbing elbows with the "Techies" out there, and ultimately just become another case of (ill-fated) history repeating itself?

I mean by this that it seemed many H-D dealership treated Buell motorcycles as little more than the "redheaded stepchild" and/or a "curiosity" at best, and seemed to have given that product line short-shrift, and so I'm thinking it would most likely turn out the same with an even more "unusual" product most likely destined to be tucked away in some far corner of these dealerships.

(...I suppose we will see)
