Dwight I see your point but think of this from Harley's position. They have just upgraded the touring line (Project Rushmore) and sales of their core models are strong so they are not neglecting their tattooed fans.
Why not expand in different directions, if the tattoo boys don't like the V-Rod, Street 750 or the electric bike then don't buy one that doesnt mean Harley cant develop a full line for other market segments.
In the end it may depend on their dealer network backing the new product.
