Fun, fun fun! Went on a bike ride to Greeley to JB's (an old drive in diner like Sonic, except the real deal, not a recreation), and then down US34 towards Loveland and about 5 miles out of Greeley, my throttle cable broke! More exactly, the Boss where the cable attaches to the throttle grip broke so I managed to pull over (after gesturing madly at the idiots in the right lanes who were ignoring my turn signal!!!!!) to the shoulder and patch it back together enough to hopefully get me home. I got about halfway home and it popped again, so I patched it back together and made it home. UGH!! I have never been so gingerly with the throttle in all my life, but I accelerated slower than a 95 year old merging onto the interstate in rush hour traffic!!!

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. Left me stranded. They need to beef up that part of the throttle.

In all fairness to them, I've had them for over 8-9 years I think, but yeah, would be nice!

there is a thread on throttle breakage over on the t-bird site. A pretty long list of the OEM ones breaking as well as the Kuryakyn.

I had a Kury (on my t-bird) break last year while I was on a business trip. I managed to rig it up enough by putting the o-ring from the homemade 'cruise control' against the cable end and then riding very carefully from near the MSP airport to Belle Plain to get another one (thru rush hour traffic, not fun). Luckily those Kury ISO grips are fairly common and fit a lot of bikes. all the Triumph cruisers take the same part.

a guy on the t-bird site is working on a solution, aluminum throttle sleeve. http://www.thunderbird1600.com/csp/thund...unge.-Aluminium Throttle Grip)&InSkin=BlackKnight&InPage=1

my interim solution was to put an aluminum ring into the throttle housing to take up the side to side slack and to trap the cable ends into their sockets so they can not pull out sideways.

I had the cable keeper break on my K ISO grip throttle tube a year or 2 back. Didn't want to take everything apart and wrestled the replacement tube on and kinda kinked one of the throttle cables. Figured it would be a premature failure sometime in the future. Well, when relocating the turn signals a couple months ago I discovered the "push" throttle cable had indeed broken. Replaced both throttle cables taking lots of stuff off to make sure no damage was done this time

Not sure exactly what is happening here this has not happened on Crantini with the stock grips. Is there any indication this will occur and what to look out for?

My Kury grip broke at the same place back in '09. Been running some Kawasaki grips since, direct replacement.
