It's not a rant, nor a political position, so I figured the Lounge may be ok? Just a "Are you kidding me?" moment. Fireman crashed a $800,000 firetruck at 7h49 this morning. Wearing flip flops (they all do here), and driving too fast around a residential corner. He flipped the truck which then crashed into another truck and the front of a couple of houses. After the crash, fireman gets out of the truck yelling:"I'm fine!" Miraculously, he didn't hurt nor killed anybody. Oh, he was found to be drunk, at 0.76... limit here is 0.05. Guess it was a long and boring night... afterwards, he wanted to get some breakfast and took the truck for a spin! Pictures here: http://www.appledaily.com.tw/realtimenew...%9A%87%E5%82%BB

But will he keep his job? Over here, there'd be no question that he would. And the lawyers would find either a defect in that new truck or that he hadn't been properly certified in its operation. The alcohol? A minor technicality - probably caused by the pressure of the job. Enroll him in treatment and he'll be fine.

Years ago in the army, they called an alert when a guy was having a birthday party. He told his platoon sgt that he was unable to drive, but they made him anyway. So, he crashed a 10 ton wrecker. He took the best choice they gave him, 4 year re-enlistment and a promotion so he could pay for the damages before he got out.
