I am posting this, because although I've only met one other person in the flesh from this site, I feel a kinship with you all. I called my GF this evening to say hello but only got her message (I'm on the road this week in Minnesota/Wisconsin). She called me back just a few moments ago in deep distress and told me that her only child - 22 year old son - was killed this afternoon when he hit a tree in her Ford Explorer she had loaned him to get to school. I don't know that the real story will ever be known. I'll be flying back tomorrow first flight I can get on. This is the first time I've dealt with something like this, so I'm hoping I can give her the emotional support she needs right now.

Life is way too short. Take good care of those you love.

Thanks for listening, brothers and sisters.

Dude that's awefull... One of my co-workers had a similar thing recently only it was his GF's brother. My condolences, I know it will be a really hard time, but the best thing you can do is to just be there, and you're already planning that so keep up the good work!

Prayers and sympathy for you and your GF JB. We all expect to bury our parents and maybe our siblings, but it is unnatural to bury our children. I can only imagine the heartache.

Hello JB,

Let me add my condelences. Your GF will need you to be there for her. I imagine she will be tempted to find ways to blame herself, and will have a hard time trying to make sense of the whole thing. It will be great for her if you can help her through the whole grieving process.

Don't worry about what to say, just be there. A sincere lasting hug says alot more than our brains can imagine.

John, myself I've never known what to say during these times. But I've also found that most people just need someone to be there to lean on and have a shoulder to cry on. You're doing the most important thing right now and that is being home with her. Good luck and my condolences to the family.

JB,

Can't add much of note to what others have said, I think you've answered a part of the question.

John, that is a terrible tragedy, and I am so sorry to hear of it...I cannot imagine the pain she, and you, must be feeling...you were absolutely right to let all of us know about this, because you are a brother, and in many different ways, we can help you through this maybe a little...for my part, all I can do is express my deepest sympathy, and both of you will be in my prayers...be strong, brother...
