I am looking for more torque at the rear wheel on take off (actually trying to leave more rubber on the asphalt..Haha). On my 07 the stock setup is 17/42, would it help if I went 44t in rear or 16t front and stock rear. Would any of this really help in terms of torque of not...thank you.

Why not both? The 16 will gear you down a little more than the 44. You will rev faster and make it easier to spin the tire.

I'm built for comfort, I ain't built for speed

It's not speeding till you get pulled over.

After further inspection I was sporting an 18 on the front sprocket (is it me or does triumph not have a clue which size sprocket they put on.) Anyway, I installed the 16 and took her for a spin. I could really tell a big difference with the "get up and go", very noticeable. At highway speed before on an 18 I was at 4000rpm @ 70 mph, with the 16 I'm at 4500 @ 70 mph. Not a bad swap for the gain in pick up. Although I'm still getting ready to purchase a chain and sprocket set I think I will keep the 16 on the front. The set from Eddy runs 205 or so for the 17/42 combo plus x-ring 525 chain, he has my business...good guy. Haven't tried to spin the tire yet with this setup but the night is young! haha.
