Installation on America 2002

Anyone experienced this? I got the rack, removed the passenger seat, but when trying to replace the seat with the rack, the distance between the front and back mounting bolts is not the same as the distance of the holes in the rack.
(and yes I did slide the rack all the way back on the forward bolt)

The rack seems to have longer distance, about 1/4 inch or about 6mm

It's a genuine triumph part from a local dealer..

here are the instructions

I was being stupid..

You have to mount the front under the rubber part, against the mud guard, not above it. This reduced the distance and I was able to mount it ...

What is that big chunk or rubber under your seat bolt? Never seen that before.

I didn't get the little rubber feet to protect my paint that they show in the installation instructions. Wonder if 8 years is too long to wait to complain?

Glad you got if figured out Wagner, but I too am curious what the black thing is that Kaiser mentioned. Is that a stock seat?

Yeah really. I have almost the same setup on the Speedy, actually thee tabs, the seat tab, the chrome seat rail tab and the fender bib tab. All three are superimposed with one bolt.

Sometimes ya hafta rat the holes out a bit with a round file, just a little tho.

Oh, forgot. Get you some protective something to go under the metal to save your paint. Adhesive rubber sheet, or go to Home Depot/Lowes and get some of the adhesive cabinet protectors things, they have all kinds of them on a rack.

Heavy duty duck/duct tape will work.

Same thing happened when I put a rack on my Speedmaster. I think the racks are made for something else, maybe a Harley. Anyway, I opened up the holes in the rack. I used a round file. Open up both holes so that you don't have to make one of them huge. Then cover the holes up with a washer.

I did not know others don't have the large rubber, can you post pictures of your setup to compare?

and I did get the square rubber bits that go under the rack to protect the paint.

My rack is different, but...the idea is the same...
I have thin rubber washers on the fender where it attaches. and one between the seat and the rack so all are not rubbing on each other.

sort of like these...
