I was thinking new/wrecked low miles engine too. The insurance co probably won't give you much for a bike with 100k so might be the best option.

Regarding EFI the new tank & frame came in 07 or early 08 I think (but still with carbs) and the first real EFI came in late 08 here in Aus. Probably the same in the USA.
