As i write this it's finally starting to cool down a bit. It was bloody hot today and i was lucky not to get evacuated due to being about 2 miles from the Tomahawk fire on Camp Pendleton Marine Base. About 10am i saw smoke and a bit later black smoke and then i started to smell it. As of now 6,000 acres got burnt on base. The wind shifted and took it onto base instead of closer to the town of Fallbrook where i live. It's bad out here and dry as a bone. 8 fires in San Diego county today and hopefully tomorrow is a better day. At least we still have power and water, some people had the power shut off on them. Des.

I was just watching video of it, there was a fire vortex happening with wind coming from different directions. It looks mean take cover or take off.

When I worked in Calabasas there was a major fire in the hills behind work. We were told to clear out, so my first thought was to go spend the rest of the day at the Rock Store. Yeah right, it's in the hills behind where I worked.
Anyway, good luck. Keep an eye on it. If the smoke turns white, it's a good sign. Good idea to stay packed and ready to run in case the wind changes.

Well today was even worse than yesterday, the air tankers were dropping water and fire retardant and a fire came within about 1 mile. Packed up some stuff but didn't have to evacuate. Smoke all around us and ash dropping on us. Power was off for 3 hours then came back on. Still ready to go but all seems to have settled down for tonight.

Still here, today was cooler and not as much smoke hanging around, the police arrested two teenagers 18&19 yrs old setting fires in Escondido. It's getting better each day. It was 102ยบ yesterday, the hottest since 1896. Everything is dry as a bone.

Keepin my finger crossed for ya. I hope all getts under control and y'all get some rain. A few years back we had some humdingers here. Scary business it is.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.
