Not riding unfortunately. Haven't seen the sun in pretty much 3 months. Raining, raining, raining.... very depressing for a guy like me who worships the sun! So, decided to make it "sunnier" inside... what better way to do it than through music! I then started a build that took about a month. 16 drivers per column, that's 32 small speakers in total, making the cabinets, 32 aligned and spaced holes, 128 pre-drilled screws... not going to do that again anytime soon! Sound wise? Out of this world! Sounds like I am inside a huge movie theater. The soundstage is huge, with nice "3D" imaging. Music is great, movies are great. I finally got a huge grin on my face, waiting for the sun and summer to come back!

Hey Jeff, hope this sun shines on your face sooner than later. Btw, those pics don't show on my screen. I wonder if anyone else is having the same problem.

Same here. Just two question marks. Well, a bit like stereo I guess ;-)

Ah yes. I showed my wife the video of that gorgeous 18" driver. The murderous look on her face made me change my designs!
The footprint of one array fits inside an A4 paper. That went better with her!

All full range drivers. No crossovers within the arrays but I do have a sub to take over under 100Hz.
The wiring was also interesting ... Needing some patience! Simple pattern though. 4 drivers in series, and 4 groups in parallel.
The sound is amazing!
The soundstage the arrays provide is huge. Listening to music is really nice as they open the stage for all instruments. Watching a movie is phenomenal. It's like being inside one of those old classic movie theater. The presence is fantastic.
I also discovered JRiver for music/movie playback. Very nice. It helps bring out the best with lots of parameters to play with, yet keeps the high bit rate music very pure.
Can you tell that I like my setup a lot!

Now with video! http://youtu.be/80OMGcsONk4Use headphones! Here's a quick test of my DIY arrays made with sixteen 3-inch drivers per array. The drivers came from Taiwan, on a factory sale at about $3 each. The sub was not turned on. Only the arrays. I played back a mix of different songs from my MBP going out from AULab, a software that allows me to add effects (VSTs, like in this case some EQ) system wide on my MBP. Recording was done with a Blue Yeti mic, going into my little old PowerBook G4 and using Audacity. I had to boost the gain a little this time around, as my neighbours were around and I didn't want to play at "reference" level! So, there is a bit of white noise on the recording. Assembled in iMovie, no tweaking other than cutting out some video parts... even forgot to add transitions! Here's a run down of the video: 1:38 testing with two makeshift boxes using a single driver each. 3:50 Folk song. 5:32 World. 6:45 My cat passing by! 7:22 Electronic. 8:27 Choir. 9:36 Classic Rock. 11:08 Grunge. 12:00 Cat again! Thanks for watching/listening!

Although the music test was most impressive, I'd have to say the cat stole the show. Great job on the arrays btw... they sound great!
