That would help for the first split second impact. Anything after that it would not do much at all because it would be gone!
In my recent off I was wearing Kevlar jeans and leather jacket with armour.
The Kevlar jeans ripped right through and then my skin was next (3rd degree burns). But regular jeans would have been gone in a fraction of a second. Any armour underneath would be gone/moved in an instant also. Lycra will have zero ability to keep armour in place.
In comparison to my kevlar jeans, my leather jacket only had a few scuff marks. I now only wear leather trousers.
SO wear that armour under leather trousers and you have good protection. Worn under any sort of jeans and you only have the first impact split second protection.
