Took a bunch of neighborhood kids today for a ride and have burned shoe rubber on the exhausts. Any quick and safe ways to remove the hardened dried gunk from the chrome? Thanks for any tips...

What I have found to work very well is to take some Orange GoJo on a rag while the exhaust is still hot. Be careful to not hold the rag on the exhaust to long because you will burn your hand if you keep it there to long. Works everytime for me.

Citrus Magic (i think it's called). It's an air freshener, but is pure citrus (orange oil). It will melt the rubber marks before you can wipe it off. Won't scratch the chrome like orange gojo. Finish off with simichrome or Honda's Spray Cleaner Polish.

With the pipes cool, I would try acetone which won't hurt the metal finish, then go back over with Semichrome. I haven't tried this on boot rubber, but it did work great for removing some blue tarp material (thrown over the bike before cooling).

Sensei the best thing I've found for residue on the pipes is Road Rub. It comes in a roll stick for 5.99

kerosene works great!!! thanks Yota, kerosene is perfect. I use kerosene on my bike and cars at least once a year to strip all wax and replenish oils in the paint. Then wipe down real good and apply more fresh wax.
