Received my new Kuryakyn 6236 iso grips today. Have had apart twice and I can't figure it out (don't want to brake anything or ruin a cable). Went to the manufacturers site and found a PDF for the 6236 but, of course it's not working.
I have the two halves of the throtle controls separated (two screws). I also went so far as to take off the handle bar mount for the control assembly.
Now I have a grip that slides back bout 1/2" off the bar and have no idea how to get enough slack off the cables to remove them (yes I backed off the adjusters). WTF!!!
Any help, pictures, guidelines or advice would be greatly appreciated.

BTW... got new progressive 412s today and they were a breeze to install.

Well, I was able to view the manufactures PDF on my I pad. Unfortunately it is the same as the single instruction sheet they provide in the package. Guess the next step is calling the manufactures tech line?????

You'll never get enough slack to "easily" remove the cables. They will always have some tension to them. Ive always used a small hook tool to get under the cable (after slackening as much as I can) and pull the cable up and out of the hole. Getting them back in is similar except that the upper cable needs to be pulled then slid in.

Thanks for the reply. I backed out the lock nut (at the top of the housing) and took out the small screw releasing the lock down plate. I got a little more slack but not enough. I really don't want to mess with the other end of the cable if I don't have to.

I did go to the ISO grips a while back. Then had to replace the throttle side a couple years later as the cable end keeper broke. When I replaced it I just wrestled the cables to get the parts back together. It was very tight and I did kinda kink one cable. I will be here soon again as I now have a broken "return" throttle cable. Replacement is on order now. Seems I loosened the handlebars and rotated them down for some slack when I originally replaced the grips. May have even raised the tank a bit to unbundle the cables for a bit more slack. I will be much more careful this time when replacing the throttle cables

This video isn't 100% like ours but it should give you an idea of what you will need to do. Again, we won't get this much slack but the idea is the same. Grip swap
