Hi All,

Are the engine casings & sprocket cover from a 2010 fuel injected Speedmaster a straight swap for for a carb model ones on a 2007 America?

I have chrome covers on my 07 America & have been offered a swap for covers from a 2010 Speedmaster.

Should be, the basic engine remains the same.

As far as I know the only thing to watch is the breather was changed but I think before 07.

It's internal and vents to the hose at the base of the jugs on the primary side.

The case behind where the breather comes out is different, old style is smooth to the back of the engine and the new style has a bump there.

Around what year of manufacture was this change?

The change was in 2006. As long as both bikes are 865's, you shouldn't have a problem.

Another difference is that from a certain engine number onwards & i would imagine its efi models, the gear selector shaft has a thicker diameter & therefore the clutch covers are NOT interchangeable as i have just found out.

I fitted the efi black sprocket & stator casings to my 07 carbed America, no problem. The guy i swapped with said that my chrome clutch cover wouldnt go on his efi Speedmaster as his gear selector shaft was too fat for the whole. Just been out to the shed to offer the efi casing on my engine & my gear selector shaft rattles around in the efi casing hole & doesnt even touch the roller bearings.
