06 270° 865 CARB Oil cooler flipped 180degree put on out side of rails. on the t on top, one side is plugged one side is piped to a brass 3/8 tee with two 3/8 lines feeding the banjos on head.
Stainless 2 into one scrambler style right side of bike.
Running 150s and 42s with stock needles at the moment.k&n pods (the smaller ones) & I think 3.5 turns plugs are checking out yet my pipes yellowed and are now Browning. (Non coated stainless) my temp oil cap thing is telling me 200-225 That's it in a nutshell
I don't think the oil cooler has anything to do with it, I ultimately changed the location of the tee, nothings more restrictive than stock.
I have Thruxneedles I pulled out, when I did I noticed that my carbs where slightly pointed up due to me putting on the intake rubbers on wrong, put them back to level and put the stickers back in, haven't checked plugs Spence put temp stayed the same.
Im thinking that thermostat plug reads higher than the oil really is cause its just crank case air (correct me if I'm wrong in thinking this) and the fact that I now have two exhaust pipes a few inches away, that now I cannot trust that temp.

As far as the pipes go I have to be running lean. I have to pull my bowl and check what I really have in there, there's a possibility there's 145 mains in there... I'm going to see what the thruxton needles do for the tune and go from there.
but anyway I'm thinking out loud here. If anyone had some input I'm all ears.

I have verified that my oil cap gauge is accurate by using a infrared temp gauge to check it as well. the cap gets its reading from the oil splashing on it not the "air" in the crankcase.

If you are lean you need to determine where. The 42 may need to be a 45 or 48 to go along with the larger main. 200ºF to 225ºF is not out of the question under hard running on a hot day. My bike normally runs 180ºF to 200ºF.

Ditto to the 200 dig temp being normal.

Reading threw my post is slightly painful haha, next time ill have to post when I'm not in the bar... with that said ill be doing some checking today. My only real concern is I'm running 200-215 consistent in 75 degrees. 120 degrees here in az is right around the corner. But like I said, ill look into some of my set up and report back after I put the thruxton needles in again

I have never seen any need to change or shim the needles in my bike.

You can get away with allot with stock needles. But I have yet to find a good enough mid range and the gap between pilots and main jets have me now playing with needles. I found I have 150s and 45s. Can't believe I couldn't remember. going to play with some stuff cause with my set up that should be rich... i just might be too picky. I dont want or need like dyno ran perfection, i just dont want engine damage.

I need a friend with a dyno, it would cost me a ton of cash to do it that way. I get the privilege of pulling my plugs 14 times a day. Ordered some more jets and such. Im sea level with zero humidity 90% of them time. And anytime I leave my town I climb 3000 feet and gain humidity. It sucks for tuneing.

Sounds like a fuel injected bike and tune ecu would make you a happy guy! The thing about your running temp is that its normal if you are working the engine hard. I ran my ba for less the 45 min this past sat and it was at 200 f the whole damn time after just 15 minutes. The ambient temp was only in the 60s.

all this is telling me I have too much time on my hands to over think things! haha
going to up my slow jets to 48 and play with some stuff. I think i'm just going nuts. the guys that built my exhaust (that I know work with) told me all stainless pipes (untreated and unpolished)turn that color....

I am in Alberta Canada, not exactly the hot spot of the world! LOL on days of 60-70 or so and not running hard i will still hit 180 all day long. 200 if its hot out.
