Well, guess it is time to throw out all my brite and colorful riding attire, just bought a H.D. off of a co-worker.... but it is a '90 sporty so not sure if that counts.

yes , it's a "girl" bike and my adorably cute and slim wife is not fond of motorcycles (she tried but just couldn't dot it) BUT if you look in the April/May issue of Cafe' Racer they have , what I believe to be , one really hot looking sporty a guy has built. sooooooo , in my lustful condition was thinking of one for my next project . the co-worker needed $1000.00 so woosh, now the proud owner of an HD , I think . some don't think so but it does say that on the crank cases so am going with that one.

Turn it into a Street Tracker, Daniel, and you'll have the coolest freakin' H-D in town! Maybe somethin' like THIS here:

Yep, and even MORE "macho" than what all the pirate outfit wearin' Harley guys will be ridin' around on!

(...yep, 'cause a bike like THAT says that you actually know HOW to ride a motorcycle and NOT just "cruise around lookin' like some freakin' wannabe 'Macho Man'"!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Well Dan already owns a trailer, so he is set.

I'll always associate sportsters with the 750 K models. There was one in my neighborhood in the 60's and man, that thing was mean. totally different from the big-iron harleys.

Well, the street tracker is the type build I'm going for D-wight but will use a royal enfield clubman tank and clip on bars. Thinking a traditional cafe' racer seat and tail. and Paul is correct , I do have a trailer !
btw, it is a 1200 with an S&S upgrade..... it was a steal . He needed the money and said he was done riding so guess it worked out for both of us

I really feel a part of something bigger than my self now that I own an HD. Can't wait to throw this new bike on a trailer behind our SUV and then the misses and me put on our new black leather chaps and vest for a starbucks run with the new H.O.G. gang...... I think I'll put on the XM george thorogood channel while we drive over with the bike for our first club latte !

I'm not a HD fan boy, but for a grand I would have popped for it. Congrats on your new project!

Definately a steal at that price! Congrats! I NEARLY bought a 1200 sporty last fall when a dealer approached me while I was on the lot for other business. It was a little rough but it ran. A dude was trading it in on a newer jap cruiser and I think the salesman just wanted to move the trade in to expedite his cash deal. He came over and asked if I would give him $250 for it if the guy came back for the other bike. I said "sure", and he said he'd get back to me when the deal closed in an hour. I was right back there when the dude rode off on his newer jap cruiser and I asked the salesman, "so, is the deal still on?" "Yep, he said, just go into the office and fill out the paperwork. So I did, and the salesman left. I was writing out the check to the office lady and she said, "that will be "2000.00." I said, "what, NO WAY", and stormed out. The slimy salesguy must have changed his mind and then slunk off. I never did see that Hardley trade in on the lot again, so I suppose he got it to someone else. I didn't care that much, but I hated for the dude to lie to me and change the deal.

Careful there, The America is Triumph's "girls bike" as seen on Triumph's own site. All rider pictures of the 2014 America are with a woman rider! And previous years Triumph description has called the America "perfect for the beginner rider."

Of course this only began after the Thunderbird was introduced as Triumph's Big Twin relegating the America/Speedmaster to Sportster status.

I've been telling people for 7 years that the Speedmaster was a great starter bike. It served us very well in that role.

Recently I heard about a guy getting a new 2014 Indian as a starter bike.
He doesn't know it yet, but he'll be crying his little eyes out the first time he drops it.

The America wasn't a girls bike in 2002.

I have been rideing for 48yrs I have owned many different bikes and ridden many more. In 01 I said to myself, self I think it's time to buy a new bike so I started rideing and investigating everything out there and wasn't really happy with anything, water cooled this and top heavy that cumbersome these front heavy that I an go on was thinking about yami those v-stars (1100)? Not bad, hd 1200 sport? Naa to uncomfortable and then Mr Bloor came along with the. America !!! Love at first site and when I sat on her and picked her up off the stand ? Well I knew I had found what was for me! I have been a Triumph guy for yrs but the new ones at that time just didn't fit me but that America was perfect. I will admit I have had a couple of those low speed dropsies and when I had to pick her up it just reaffirmed for me that I had made the right choice. Now, anybody that calls this bike a girls bike or beginner bike would have to preface that with it is for the right girl or the right beginner because as far as I am concerned this is the bike I will ride until I can't anymore! It handles better than most cruisers it has as much power as is ever needed is comfortable for all day (ask Moe) and so far very reliable in short way better than the other bikes with similar CCs! There are many other bikes that would be for more suited for beginners and I think it should be a seasoned female that rides an America because these bikes are far better than beginners

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Well, have to say ,,, went through a phase where I bought the bikes of my youth and after fixing up etc, etc{$$$} and the day of the "1st ride" the reliazation hit - a 1974 Suzuki GT 185 does not propel a 225 lb man as well as it did a 115 lb pimply faced kid...
