Yep, had the same thing happen on my 05 Speedy. Welded up the boss, used a bolt for internal support through the shaft and boss drilled into the case. Had to replace the clutch cover but everything else was good. Just to be on the safe side I removed the oil sump, cleaned it out (there was very little there) and did an oil flush with light weight oil. No problems since.
