Hi guys. I recently bought a nice '03 America to complement my more Cafe'd 01 bonnie. One of the first things I need to change on it is the handlebars as they are too wide and too tall for me. I tried a set of Superbars I had laying around and while I really liked the feel the cables were way too long to fit. I've read countless threads here and elsewhere but nothing answers my question which is: Has anyone had any success fitting lower narrower bars without changing cables and if so what kind were they? Thanks a lot.

The narrower Speedmaster drag type bars feel a lot better to me than the America beach bars or whatever they are classified as, and your cables will be fudgeable to work without looking excessively long.

Ha, beach bars. That's exactly what they're like. A beach cruiser bike. So is that what you did? Got a pic?

I used superbars from bellicose. About 6inches narrower and an inch lower. Used the same cables but had to re route the throttle to keep it from binding. 3 yrs this way, still good.

I have two Speedmasters that are keepers, but I pick up deals on used and abused/neglected Americas, square them away and sell them to good loving homes. Fast Eddy put Speedy bars on his America and pics are available on the members rides thread. I'll see if I can find a link for you. Rapid Edward [image] [/image] These are Jardine solid billet bars and they are even narrower than stock Spdmsr bars.

I put Carlini bars on mine. Got them scratch and dent price. English instead of metric so takes some ingenuity but much improved.

Switched out my America bars for Speedy's also. They look a bit long but it seems to work out OK.

I'll have to check my Superbars dimensions agains Bellecorse. I'll have to pull the tank to reroute cables but I'd be great if I didn't have to shell out $ for new bars.

Reviving a six year old thread to see if anyone has to change out their America risers to fit speedmaster bars or superbars? Will tracker bars or broomhandles clear the America's tank? I have a 2006 America if that matters.
