I remember a long time ago about safety wiring on pod filters. Were and how did they get wired on. I hit a sink hole so hard yesterday I move my handlebars and knocked my filters off. I think its time to wire them on.

Which pods? K&N's are more prone to pop-offs.

When new the filter bases have that slick silicone ish film from the molds. Scrub it off prior to install with some good soap and when you tighten them down on the carb flanges, they will stick on there fo' ever.
And there's not a generous amount of flange on the carbs, so ya gotta do a visual and make sure the filter bases and clamp are seated all the way.

I have had K&N pods on my bike almost 10 years now and they have never popped off, not even once. Do not over tighten, that will deform them and they will never stay on.

Which ones? I found that the RC2890/2900 just didn't like to stay on. Too much pressure makes it worse.

I no longer remember what part number they were but those numbers look like the ones I have. They came with the Freak almost 10 years ago.

I use the gray and Chrome pods off fleabay...they work well...clean flange and pod from grease and tighten snug, as mentioned above they'll pop off if over torqued and not cleaned...I've had zero probe with mine...good luck.

+1 Found that the hard way. Replaced them with the round tapered cone K&N instead of the more popular oval tapered cone. They're a wee-bit lighter and look better IMO.

RC 2330. Same filter for both sides is what I switched to.

Do not over-tighten.....I can push my on and off by hand and although it may seem like you should tighten them up a smidge.....leave them alone.....they'll stay on there forever.
