Do I have to modify the bottom left hand corner of the cover for it to slip over the frame to fit snuggly or is there some trick that I'm missing???????
please help I have Bonneville 2003 America.

Yes. About a 1 inch square notch out of that corner should be enough, maybe less. Did mine in 5 minutes with a dremel cutoff wheel.

Thanks Ben for replying to my message, further to your comments do you know if there is any problem with the crome peeling after grinding the peice out?

Would a dye grinding stone suffice for the grinding?

I ground mine down with a bench grinder about a year ago and have had no problems w/ chrome peeling.
If I remember right I had to take off about a 1" x 1/2" chunk.
