And btw, Mac. I'm STILL waitin' to hear that "explanation" and the logistics involved regarding those "man(o)euvers" to which we earlier alluded!

Keith: I actually owned a 1974 MG in the 90's. I never had much trouble with it and i drove it around town several summers.
I would say that i was never that happy with the handling, it was juddery in turns and swayed a lot. You might want to find a way to try something like a used miata for comparison.

My MGB had monster understeer in the corners and was really dependent on good tires, but, still fun and loved that long round hood shape to the headlights... in British Racing Green color, uppps colour.

Lots of people liked the TR4. A friend of mine has one in pieces in a second stall of his garage, for 25 YEARS! I always thought the TR3 was the best looking car. Classic good looks, lots of swoopy lines. I thought they "modernized" the body style with the 4, so I never cared for them so much. After the TRs, Triumph spitfires were the best looking.

This has been a pretty good thread. I've decided to let go the idea of owning a MG for now. I say that, yet I know myself... if something catches my eye I'll be all over it like poop on a blanket.

Sounds like the '74 might make for a nice project car if that's what your looking for. I had a '73 Butterscotch MGB back in the early eighty's that I took to Germany during an assignment at Hahn Air Base. It was a fun little car for after work and weekends driving to the wine/beer fests along the Mosel river. Gee, I may have to look for another one after I retire, for a hobby project.

She was 5 ft 93lbs, small, nibble and not too fast, like her MG. The rear deck of an MG is the only body part structurally sound enough to avoid bodywork post performance. Her name was Tonya and the MG was sans luggage rack. Loved driving her........car.

Where there's a will there's a way. Some years back a woman at the Iowa Women's Prison was impregnated by a railroad worker through a chain link fence. An MG Midget would be downright comfortable compared to that.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Yes, there was much slow nibbling going on, but I meant "nimble". She was a gymnast studying library sciences. "Nibbling" "Nimble", these are the results of dashing off post between tax returns. Can't wait till April 17th, maybe I'll look up Tonya.

Well newt, I'll bet they're VERY similar to MY much more COMFORTABLE memories of the back seat of my Pop's '69 Chrysler Newport, and while at the Vermont Ave Drive-In Theater with a certain Valerie during the occasional Friday and Saturday night! (...AND speaking of "nibbling", where more than a few times I ALSO recall "honoring" the YEAR of that car's date of manufacture by use of a certain time-honored practice!!!)

I'll drink to that, Mac! And, you should have seen my Pop's previously purchased Yank Tank to that Chrysler...a Metallic Burgundy Red '62 Caddy Sedan deVille with white leather interior.
(...of course he sold that one a few years before Valerie and I were old enough to "christen it" on those non-school-the-following-day nights at that drive-in...though I would have NO idea on how one would "honor" the year of '62 in THAT sorta way!!!)
