The tranny issue mentioned about 2nd to 1st is because they weren't synchronized, have to double clutch on he downshift or just stop in 2nd and then put her in first. Did rebuild a couple of mg engines back in the 80's, luckily the aftermarket is robust, not too many issues with part availability.
