I have always liked this bike, like the seating the lines, just about everything, i especially like the green ones, i found this one pretty local, they don't come up very often, wondering who has experience with this bike and your feedback. this one seems pretty clean without looking hard at it anyways. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=576137644

Found that the Legend TT and similar Thunderbird (triple) book values to be a joke. I couldn't find any unmolested for under $4000. The BMW/Triumph dealer had two while I was looking; a red one and a black one that was a tad older and the red was going for about the same price as the one in your ad and the black for about $5500. Book is about 1/2 that. I called the salesman and he said that is what they can get for them... kind of take it or leave it. I would love to own one as I like standards a whole lot and especially those that are not 750 lbs. Most of the triples seem to have fairly low mileage for being as old as they are; not sure why (kind of like the BA models). $4000 US (assume ad was in Canadian bucks) isn't out of line with what I have seen especially if it is as nice as seems.

yes, this is in Canadian dollars so about 4k US dollars, and thats the asking price, so not sure how much room is there, should be a little though, fired him off an e-mail and he is sending more pictures and info about the bike, he is about a 2hour drive away so want to do a bit of presearch before a drive. I am thinking as a second bike, love my SM, but maybe one for the wife to ride now and again as well, although i can see doing some neat things to this bike.

That is darn good looking Mike. I've always been a fan of them too. Of course, you and I seem to often have similar taste.

I have always thought the Legend/TBird/Adventurer triples were the coolest bikes. But they are almost impossible to find for sale, and when you do they are not cheap. That is a nice one!

I had a 1997 Thunderbird The 885cc Triple is fantastic engine, with a sweet exhaust note. It runs really strong, with gobs of torque. I am presently on the lookout for an early 2000s Thunderbird Sport.. tangerine and black.

I love these bikes... strong, nimble and a delight in the twisties. The hydraulic clutch and the mono-shock set up makes it a very smooth machine and easy to love. 4 grand is a bit high... but if it's been well cared for then maybe. I didn't get nearly that for mine and it was very clean, low mileage and well maintained.
There are really a couple of downsides to these bikes,(T-bird, T-bird Sport and Legends) and it is unfortunately a pretty big ones. The sprag clutch for the starter is a common part to fail and requires removing and splitting the engine case to repair. Also if it gets dropped on the left side (the kickstand is not the best design and it happens) you stand a good chance of breaking the shaft for the shifter. I managed to repair one (shifter shaft) without removing the engine but it was quite an involved operation just the same. And one other thing I just didn't like was that you have to drain the oil to change the front sprocket... just thought that was weird. All in all.. I love these bikes and do miss my Legend and should an orange and white T-Bird Sport show up at a decent price, I'd certainly try to own it.. but I'm a mechanic and can do these repairs myself but they could get quite expensive if they have to go to a shop for the aforementioned repairs.
Great bikes.. beautiful lines.. and a very fun ride.
