Nope. I have decided to give up on any rumors until it actually happens.

Triumph wouldn't even have to do a new engine to make the Americas and Speedys (Speedies?) seriously bigger.

We know that the current design can be made to go over 1100 cc's with a little crankcase mod, so it shouldn't be too difficult for Hinckley to take it out to around 990 or so. This should be a reasonable size for maintaining reliability and keeping costs within reason.

It would also be a competitive bike with all the Vee 900-1100 crusier bikes out there, as the BA/Speedmaster's total weight is lower.

My prediction is they will go up around 1500cc motors and totally redesign the bike. They like having the biggest bikes around so with Harley making the 88cid motors they will push it way up. If they change the design away from the retro look they will not have me as a customer for one of the new ones.

I didn't buy my bike for size, I bought it for its look.

No news other than there is one coming.
Sometime ...

It's known that Triumph developed a 1500cc then an 1800cc originally for the Rocket.
These engines worked and were running protatypes so the basis is already there.
I for one can't understand why the don't, in effect, lop off one of the Rocket's cylinders and have a stonking 1533cc twin!! Mmmmm

Word got out Honda was developing a 2000cc V and Triumph (being stuborn buggers we Brits can be!) decided they weren't going to be outdone and upped it to 2.3l.

Thought I would dip my ore in here.I really can not understand for the life of me the obsession of having a 1100 to 1600 CC bike.I guess a lot of guys(including my boss) have the notion that these bigger bikes are some how better. When you actually look at the stats there is LITTLE to NO difference in the over all size of the bike. For example lets compare the america/speedmaster to other "BIGGER" bikes
motorcycle model/ wheelbase / lenth / LBS
america/speedmaster : 65.2" : 93.5" : 497/504
honda 1300 VTX : 64.45" : ---- : 641
yamaha 1600 roadstar : 66.5" : 98.4 : 679
HD softail deluxe : 64.5" : 94.7" : 693
HD dyna low rider : 64.6" : 93.1" : 641
Victory 1600 vegas : 66.3" : 96.3" : 620
The reason I put weight in these figures is to counter the arguement of bigger engine and more power, but as you can see our bikes are on average 150 LBS lighter than the above mentioned bikes.I guess what I'm tring to say , BIG DEAL about Triumph not having a 1100 to 1600 CC bike! There is no problem or lamenting on the size of our americas or speedmasters with me.For those still dreaming of that "bigger" Triumph parallel twin I guess dreams never hurt any one,but mine came true when I drove my speedmaster(all 790 CC's of her)off the lot in 2004.

Seems like it's an American thing. I drive a super-charged 4 cylinder car. It's plenty fast, get's great mileage and handles well. But, when I put my family in the car, or three co-workers, turn on the A/C, and try to pass going up hill, it's just not there.

Same with the 790cc. Modify for an extra three or four horses, even 10! Most of us would do better to drop 15 lbs ourselves to increase the perfomance of our bikes. I'm pushing 220 lbs, when I put my wife on the back (who god love her is the same size as when I married her!) the TBA has to do a lot of down-shifting to make it up some mountain passes.

Running a 1300cc doesn't generally have that problem. And by the same token, you can tow a big boat with a four cylinder pick-up. But how long with the transmission, engine, etc last compared to a V8?

I love my bike, but I for one would love it more with an extra 500cc's.

My humble guess is that IF a bigger cruiser is about to come, it probably will be water-cooled, and how sexy is that?

my only gripe is lack of tourque while 2 up. the extra cc's would help in that area. maybe in a year or 2 i will have the big bore kit to fix that. other then that a friend of mine with a 1600 roadstar could not run away from me.

Khatt makes a great point, which also brings up the merrits of the big bore. More CCs with maybe even LESS weight cause you bore it out! A larger engine stock from Triumph would definitely be heavier...

The June Motorcycle Cruiser mag makes a reference to Triumph's forthcoming 1500cc custom in an article about a German diesel bike. The article says the diesel engine is a vertical twin and it resembles the forthcoming Triumph. I just hope Triumph brings out that bike soon or I'll be too old and feeble to ride it.

BTW, the Neander 1400 Turbo Diesel is very cool. It also has a cool price tag of $65000.

To get an idea how much difference that makes, when they first started making the 1200 piglet, they used the same cylinder castings and bored them bigger. The 1200 ended up 6 pounds lighter.

Lost 10lbs and tethered wife to vacuum cleaner cord. 790 is plenty for me.

Well there ya go! We all know bigger bikes are heavier, but then again the average Joe Bikebuyer is only looking at the numbers, CCs and HP. Not necesarily doing the power to weight ratio as he's walking around the showroom... Hard to blame Triumph for wanting a larger bike. There's a HUGE gap between an America and a Rocket.

Everyone I ride with rides a HD. The newest addition is my friends 06 Night Train which he spent $22,000 on this bike it has the stage 2 screaming eagle kit and the engine is 660cc bigger than our Americas. Yet he cannot beat me in a straight away and I just wave goodbye when a canyon is coming.

An often overlooked thang about bigger motors is insurance. Go out and price insurance. The higher the cc's the higher the quote. That's the beauty of the big bore. Ya have the guise of a 790 with the arse of a 904. And the insurance man might as well be a vet trying to figure out if a cat had been spayed.

Insurance. Big bore. Amals. Who needs a bigger cruiser? I say ride what you have. If ya want a badder cruiser, bore it!
