I remember downloading and printing off portions of the America technical manual from this site a couple of years ago, I still have a couple of chapters that I printed off, but need another portion of the manual.....Can't seem to find it ANYWHERE on here now....has it been deleted?

It's about a 1/8th to 1/4 inch long crack, just in one place...My only hope it to find a expert welder, heat it up, squeeze it back tight, and zap it with a MIG or TIG I'm guessing....Other than that, I'm screwed...Any ideas would be welcome...Triumph wants $4700 for a engine half, and Baxter cycle has a salvage engine for around $2000...Bike simply is'nt worth that kind of money and labor...

you could have a ring made that fits over the boss. the ring would have to have a thick wall of probably 3/8" and make the ring as long as you can. the bore needs to be an interference fit on the boss. If you measure the diameter with a micrometer you can file it round enough so that when the ring is tapped on it will keep the boss together. You could also use JB weld to strengthen the casing by putting it around the ring and over some of the webs nearby. I'm a machinist and could make the piece for you. Another way to keep the ring from trying to move is putting a couple of bolts from the OD to the case and when the bolt is snug tighten it with a locknut. Basically it's what we call a 'spider'. It's an easy fix. Des.

There ya go Mark, looks like Desmond knows his stuff. And a good guy with TIG can seem like a miracle worker.
Always a way to fix broken things, 40 years of wrenching I've seen a lot and always remember something an old timer told me when I was just a long haired pup first starting out,
"fabricate, or terminate".
I've even surprised myself with some of things I've come up with
