Has anyone replaced a BA ignition control unit for a Speedmaster control unit? This will give us a little more R's and if so was it worth the switch. I believe the ignition control units are a little expensive so would this be a worthwhile mod? Does anyone know how much an ignition control unit goes for? Any thoughts on this?????

I had to replace my Speedmaster igniter box a couple of months ago when my bike started firing on only one cyclinder. A new one from Triumph, with an 8,000 rpm rev limit labled on the package, set me back $550 from Palm Beach Triumph. I ordered from them because I knew they'd be one of the quickest to get it to me. Took about 4 or 5 days for them to recieve it, then another 4 or 5 days for me to get it by UPS ground.

During my troubleshooting of the problem, Dwight was kind enough to send me his America igniter so I could verify the problem before forking out all that cash. It fixed my problem, so if you have any doubt that they wouldn't work between models, I can't see why. It'd be best though to wait to see what Procom comes out with. Brent sells Procom igniters for the Bonneville and they're only $189. Procom said back in March they should have an igniter for our bikes in 2 months. Times up so maybe they're getting close.
