So here I sit in Montana watching the nation's weather, hearing about the pending winter/ice storm in the southeast. Hope all my Southeastern brothers and sisters in Georgia, Carolina's, etc fair well and the forecast is overstated.

Thanks, I think it usually is for economic reasons, bread and milk producers.

John, I first thought this thread was going to be about a new Triumph Thunderbird called the SE Storm. Sorry. After what went on down south a couple of weeks ago, I hope every one of our members stay safe also.

I agree to a certain point but, are we talking about 2" ice or show? Big difference.
Two weeks ago when the other storm blasted the south I was in New Orleans. I drove from N.O. to Knoxville, TN in a Hyundai Santa Fe, front wheel drive only. What should have been an 8 hour drive became a day and a half journey. La, all of Mississippi and half of Ala was covered in ice. Not sure how I made it but I did, thank goodness for GPS. I saw literally 1000's of stranded cars and motorists, thought I was going to be stranded on the highway on several occasion. With experience, skill, luck and stubbornness I made it home with no issues.
Here's the deal, lots of vehicles will move on ice, getting them stopped is another issue all together, especially while texting and eating a cheeseburger

Exactly. We get clowns (mostly soccer moms) around here zooming around in 4x4s and SUVs thinking they're immune from sliding on ice because they have 4WD. Wrong!
Drive safe folks.

In November, we had an inch or so of snow one night. During the day, it melted just enough to refreeze into a solid, smooth layer of ice, then there was 4 or 5 inches of snow. There was enough wind to make the snow pack into areas of differing density. I usually have little trouble driving in that much snow with my truck but, thís tíme, the snow pushed me all over on the ice. I ended up calling in and not going to work.

Here, we'll have neither of either!
No, we won't escape unharmed. It will only hit mid-sixties tomorrow.
Won't be back to sunshine and mid-eighties till Saturday!

It was so cold here that I had to fire up the furnace in the RV (that was parked at the beach) last night. BRRRRRRR! Then when the sun came up this morning, I turned it off again. Then to add insult to injury, when I got home and walked out to the backyard to pick an orange and a grapefruit off the trees for my breakfast - it was drizzling rain. But seriously, I sympathize with you guys that have to deal with the ice and the idiot drivers that don't know how to adapt to it.
