Not been able to give it any stick yet as neighbours were already given me evils for running it outside their front door on a Sunday, still have to make a throttle cable, but it runs and sounds quiet smooth.

Always liked the big carb stuck out the side look, so the originals being worn gave me the perfect excuse to play. Neighbours were out for an hour so gave it some welly (sorry no video) but seems to rev well and will probably suck in small children and animals. Decided a pancake filter is probably the best bet for it, just sits nicely under my right leg.

Cant wait to ride it now, being 1 3/4" it should give plenty of bottom end grunt.

Strombergs were ****** if you ask me, had loads of V8 Rovers, a lot in Land Rovers and Range Rovers and the first mod was always to dump the Strombergs,

Would like to compare notes.

Here is the manifold, getting a couple of sleeves to weld on the end to match the end of the old carbs with the grooves in the end. You can pull this out of the rubbers if you try, so with the new ends on it should be more secure.

I will take some good pics of mine for ya. I bought some prebent aircraft aluminum tube. You can get from hobby aircraft aviators catalogues for about $40. I used a friends mill to cut new flanges and fit it all together. Tacked it up, and welded it out. I have some pics on here but I do this from my phone and the search thing dont work well for me.
Maybe one of the mods will help out here. Or another guy who is magic with the search thing not a mod but a charter member.

how is the throttle response compared to the CVKs?

Insane. Its like daylight and dark. You would never want a cvk again.

What kind of performance are ya getting from the SU carb and hand made intake?
Dont just leave us hanging.

How about something objective, like a dyno run by a competent operator, with SAE corrected run data...

I found thats not easy to get at least around here. Unless you are running a Harley . I got turned down by the few shops around here that have dynos. We only do harleys is what I got told by three different shops.
So i guess tell me objectively what ya feel when ya ride it.
I am going to make one more. Buy I am going to have to modify the potion of the frame that goes down to the back of the transmission case to accommodate the new breather tube.

The one I have now has a weak spot between 3/4 throttle and full throttle. With out access to a dyno I just could not get a long enough run to work it out. Too much traffic and cops dont appreciate ya highballing down the interstate at those speeds.
I had a portion of new highway that was great they had just built it and it was barricaded off, but they opened it up to traffic before I could get done. Oh well, right .....it is what it is.

Good lord! I certainly hope there is a MAJOR improvement in performance to make up for the awful detraction in line and aesthetics.
